
Art Contest: Description
Purpose: The purpose of the contest is to pieces of art from the students of Mansfield ISD and to provide financial assistance to the art teachers of the winning students.
Deadline: All teachers that will be participating in the Art Contest need to submit the participation agreement by Friday, May 13, 2011. All artwork must be submitted on Monday, September 5, 2011 – before the close of the day.
Size: Not to exceed 11"x 14", must be self standing, must be easel ready.
The contest will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Tarrant County Community College Southeast Campus during, "The Streets of Mansfield" Style Show and Shopping Expo.
1. We will be hosting a community wide shopping expo including an adult Style Show, a children's showcase, a shopping expo, a Taste of Mansfield , a Community Stage, a Demonstration Stage and an Art Contest.
2. Winners will be announced at 4:00pm on the day of the event.
3. Student artwork will be displayed at the event and in an one site art gallery.
Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the teacher of the student from each grade division. The prizes awarded are: $300 to first place, $200 to second place, and $100 to third place.
Art Contest: Rules
Purpose: The purpose of the contest is to feature pieces of art from the students of Mansfield Independent Schools and to provide financial assistance to the art teachers of the winning students.
Critical Attributes:
1. The art must feature the theme, "Streets of Mansfield," assigned to the particular grade level.
a. Elementary Schools (grades K-4) – Neighborhoods (sub-theme), eg. picket fences, family, residential streets.
b. Intermediate & Middle Schools (grades 5-8) – Suburban (sub-theme), eg. "main" street, businesses, traffic signs, rail roads.
c. High Schools (grades 9-12) – Urban Decay (sub-theme), eg. inner city, graffiti, sky scrapers, slums, freeways.
Entries:
1. A student may submit only one entry.
2. The artwork may result from an individual, a group or class.
3. All entries will be submitted by the teacher from the school that the student is attending.
Display and Size Requirements:
1. artwork dimensions not to exceed 11"x14".
2. All art work must be easel ready.
3. The mat may not be wider than 3".
4. All art must be framed or matted.
Media:
1. All work must be flat (2-dimentional).
2. Acceptable media includes pencil, ink, oil, tempera, acrylic, pastels, and watercolor.
3. Unacceptable includes glass, mosaic, clay, commercial objects, sand, glitter or ANY other 3-dimentional objects.
Disqualifications:
1. Work, which is not original, such as work, copied from a magazine or book, illustrations, a published photograph, or any other artwork.
2. Photographs.
3. Art not matching the theme assigned to the particular grade level.
4. Work including vulgar language, nudity, religious figures, or violent images. Or any other offensive images deemed unacceptable by the judges.
5. Work without proper identification.
6. Work not conforming to size requirements.
7. Work including any unacceptable media choices.
